Complete Prenatal and Postpartum Care

Every pregnant woman requires prenatal and postnatal care to ensure the health and well-being of both her and her baby. According to the WHO, every pregnant woman must have at least four prenatal visits and have access to iron and folic acid supplements for at least 100 days, as well as two tetanus shots, vitamins, and calcium to maintain her physical health and prepare her body for childbirth. Prenatal visits allow for the detection and possible prevention of adverse birth events. Here at Tyler Birth House, we offer comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care to ensure that every pregnant woman will have a high quality, personalized birth experience.

Nutrition Counseling

Many of us develop dietary habits at a young age. We may try something new every now and then, but there will always be comfort foods that we crave. Through nutritional counseling, you may develop an appreciation for many foods that you may have passed over while walking down the produce aisle at the supermarket. Here at Tyler Birth House, we will teach you why you crave certain foods in the first place through nutritional counseling, and you may notice that these cravings begin to subside as you follow dietary guidelines. Many of us simply put our diets on autopilot without considering the potentially negative consequences. Nutritional counseling should cause you to pay closer attention to what you put in your body and how it affects you.

Water Births

Having the option of water immersion for labor and birth is a unique experience that birth center loves offering to families. There is so many health benefits of water use during labor and birth including decreased pain perception, shortened labor and pushing times, less likely to tear, and so much more! The theory behind water birth is that because the baby has already spent nine months in the amniotic fluid sac, birthing in a similar environment is gentler for the baby and less stressful for the mother. Many of our families choose this amazing option.

Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding has numerous health benefits for both you and your baby. It strengthens your baby’s immune system and provides optimal nutrition. You will have a lower risk of breast and ovarian cancer, as well as a lower risk of cardiovascular disease. Our midwifery team at Tyler Birth House will give you adequate support to help you get breastfeeding off to a good start. We will also provide sufficient information to educate mothers on the pros and cons of breastfeeding as well as the health benefits both the mother and the baby will get from breastfeeding.  If you having any concerns or trouble, our highly skilled team can support you at the postpartum home visits or schedule some time at the office for help.

Birth Center or Home Births

Whether you want to give birth at home or in a birth center, you have the right to make an informed decision about where you prefer to deliver your baby. Here at Tyler Birth House, our first priority is the health of the mother and the baby, so we will guide you all throughout whatever your choice will be. There is so much data out there that low risk, healthy women have far better birth outcomes when choosing a midwife and a birth center or home birth experience including lowered cesarean section rates, higher client experiences, less mental health issues postpartum, and higher breastfeeding rates.

Here at Tyler Birth House, we are here for all our client needs 24/7. Our midwives are available for any questions, concerns, or “pep talks” you may be needing.  Part of what makes midwifery care so special is the unique relationship that we have with our clients and supporting all their educational and empowerment needs.
